Swim Team

Since the first week in June we have been having swimming every day. The girls go Monday through Friday. Makayla's group goes from 10:45-12:15 and Marissa's group goes from 11:00-11:45. This is why we have been so busy, plus throw in a few t-ball games in the morning before we even head to the pool to swim. It has been really good for the girls and I think they both have really enjoyed getting to swim.

Marissa is actually on the 8 and unders swim team. She wasn't sure that she really wanted to compete in any of the meets at first. So one night we took her to a meet so she could watch everyone and see what they are all about, which was also good for mom and dad to see what all goes on because we had no clue. So after watching one of the meets she decided maybe she would try one and she did and did a great job!! Since this was her first meet her coach put her in an exhibition race that way she wouldn't get disqualified if she touched the side or didn't do the stroke just right. She did really good in both of her races! Then the next meet a couple of days later she got to do a relay which her team placed 3rd, so we were very proud of her and she was pretty excited to get a few ribbons!
Before their meet the kids have to be at the pool an hour earlier to practice so here Marissa just finished practice and was dressed in her clothes to stay warm before her first race.

This was part of the relay, Marissa had to dive in and do freestyle...she did great and didn't seem a bit nervous!

From our home to yours....

Welcome to our home at Christmas. When I heard that Boomama was going to be having a Christmas Tour of Homes , I thought that sounded like so much fun because so many of our family and friends aren't able to make it out to visit us during the Christmas season. So here are a few pictures of our home decorated for Christmas. As you walk in our front door we have this little tree sitting in our entry way As you can see I really like snowman! This is leading into the family room... This tree is in our family room and it is decorated with all of our family ornaments. Each year we buy the girls an ornament that represents something from the year for that child. It is a tradition that I have continued from my childhood. My favorite ornaments are the ones that are homemade by the girls! This is our big tree that is more formally decorated and is in our living room. 1 Year Later

Just the other day I was looking back at some of my posts and realized that I started our family blog 1 year ago this month. I can't believe it has already been a year. My first post was about celebrating the 4th of July at Mark and Jane's. On Friday we will be heading out to Mark and Jane's for another great 4th with our friends. I have really enjoyed keeping up with our family blog. I hope that you have also enjoyed reading each of my posts. My main reason for doing this blog was to keep in touch with our friends and family through various postings. I know that there are many of you who at one point or another have said to me that you have read our blog, I am just curious who is out there and reading this.
