What to do on a cold day

Image
Well this morning we woke-up to a very cold house...at first we thought maybe the furnace was just having trouble keeping up since it was so cold outside, but we soon discovered sometime during the night the furnace had quit! So by the time me and the girls got up for school it was down to 49 degrees in our house, that is cold!!! We all had some hot cereal for breakfast and bearly wanted to move we were all so cold. Anyways, we had someone come out to service out furnace, we were very glad to hear the door bell ring shortly after 10:30. He quickly discovered what was wrong and by 1:00 my house temp went back up to a nice and cozy 70. We were all very thankful for the heat!! The things you take for granted, never realize what they are until you don't have them!! Anyways, this post is suppose to be about play dough......so after Makayla got home from school today we decided to make some play dough, which is very easy and very fun thing to do with your kids if you haven't done tha

Random Acts of kindness

Image
At the beginning of the year Jeremy and I sat down and thought through some "new" ways to help the girls accomplish their chores with good attitudes. We have always said that we did not want to pay our kids to do chores. We would instead pay them for "extra" things that we would ask them to do that was not a part of their daily chores. So we came up with this new system and so far it seems to be working out pretty well. Every time we notice one of the girls doing something that wasn't asked of them like picking up a mess that wasn't made by them or having a good attitude when asked to do something, any "acts of kindness" that we notice without them pointing it out , we give them a star. After 3 stars, they get to pick out of a jar. In the jar we put all sorts of "fun" things like: have a friend spend the night play an extra 20 minutes of webkinz get some candy from Walgreen's (their new favorite store) have a friend over for the a

Molly & Princess Leia

Image
I have to admit I am kind of embarrassed posting all of these pictures of these dogs, but my sister keeps asking me when am I going to post again....so here it is. Maybe later today I will actually post some pictures of my kids! This is Princess Leia, she is our friends dog. We had so much fun with Princess Leia this week! Molly was not sure what to think at first, of this new furry friend in her house sitting on her moms lap and getting all the attention from the girls. In fact at first she followed Leia everywhere she went, poor Leia didn't have any privacy! Soon Molly decided she wasn't so bad and they actually would play a little bit, although there were a few times I had to ask myself is this playing or fighting? Myah was so excited when her sisters would leave for school so that she could have both dogs to herself! I think that when Leia left yesterday Molly was a little sad! She ended up having fun with her new friend. I guess we will have to start having play dates for

Aunt Duffy Visits

Image
Incase some of you reading this are wondering who Aunt Duffy is, that is Jeremy's sister. I guess when Jeremy was little he couldn't say Stephani it always came out as Duffy. So since the girls have 2 Aunt Stephanie's they started calling the one Aunt Duffy. We had a great weekend with our Aunt Duffy. We celebrated Christmas with her since she wasn't able to make it out for Christmas this year. Here is a picture of the girls wearing their new baby backpacks that they got from their Aunt Duffy. We kept busy this weekend by playing some Wii, shopping, watching movies and playing a little Farkle, which is a fun dice game incase you have never heard of it, we learned with my sister and her hubby. We had a great visit with Aunt Duffy, thanks for coming out to see us!!
