Father's Day

Image
Jeremy preached at Dyer United Methodist on Father's Day this year. This is where we served when we were first married. It was like a family reunion so good to see everyone! After church we were able to go out to lunch with both of our to celebrate Father's Day! After lunch the guys were all able to enjoy a round of golf! I took this picture of me and the girls since we were all matching with our black and white outfits!

American Girl

Image
We finally made it. I think the girls have been wanting one of these dolls for a couple of years now maybe even longer, but we just didn't feel like they were old enough to really take care of one or appreciate one. We told our girls that they needed to save their money to put towards one of these dolls. Just because 3 girls means 3 dolls which equals a lot of money. Plus we were hoping that maybe they would really appreciate their dolls more if they had to use their own money towards one. So they did, they worked really hard to earn some money and save for their American Girl Dolls. So we planned a special day where all of us girls could go to Chicago and surprise the girls. We had told them that we were going to go this summer in July, so when they finally found out that we were going this week they were so excited. While we were in Chicago on Wednesday I stopped by the store and grabbed a few catalogs. After we told them I think that night and and all the next day the girls, al...

Painting Eggs

Image
The girls have been asking me all week, when do we get to paint our eggs . So last night while Jeremy was gone to church for a meeting we decided we would paint our eggs. The girls always have so much fun doing this. They get so creative with their painting. At first it was just dip the egg in one color and then be done, but by the end they were dipping the top part of the egg in one color and the bottom half in a different color. Then they started dipping their eggs in all the different colors. While painting our eggs we were able to talk about how eggs represent new life. Easter is all about new life because of the sacrifice that Jesus made for us on the cross we have new life in Him. I'm so thankful the story doesn't end with Jesus dying on the cross, 3 days later He rose again. Another fun thing we like to do with our girls at Easter are the Resurrection Eggs . This is a fun and creative way to teach your children the true meaning of Easter. We have done this for sev...

Grandparents Day

Image
Last week, Makayla's school had Grandparents Day. We were very thankful that it worked out that Grammy and Grandpa were able to come out for the day. Makayla was glad to have them there with her at school! Each class did a little program for the grandparents in the gym. Here are a few pictures from Grandparents Day. Here is Makayla with her teacher. Here the girls are looking through their American Girl Doll catalog. They usually do this about once or twice a day. They have been saving their money for some time now, and can hardly wait to go and buy one!

Nana & Papa

Image
Nana & Papa came out to visit us today. It always seems like our visits are way to short but we were glad to have them here! The girls were really excited to see them. I think as soon as they got here Myah asked Nana to play barbies with her. That seems to be her favorite thing to do right now! After lunch, the guys played a little Tiger Woods on the Wii, I won't mention who won that! (Sorry dad) Nana and the girls played barbies. Then we had to show them Guitar Hero. The girls like to try and play, of course there are only a few songs and a few characters that they can even use on it. Jeremy and I like to play that after the girls go to bed and yes it is addicting even for me! The girls put on a puppet show for me and Nana. We had some cake and opened gifts!! Thanks for the gifts mom and dad!! Thanks for coming out, we enjoy spending the day with you! Here is Papa helping Makayla play Guitar Hero..... Time for a show..... Me & my girls!

Smile

Okay....I don't have pictures of the other 2 girls for their first dentist appointments but since I actually had my camera with me and the dental hygienist asked me if I had my camera, I decided to take a couple of pictures. Myah did very good sitting still while she had her teeth cleaned. We had an appointment for all 5 of us, I think we were at the dentist office for over 3 hours, I'm pretty sure we won't do that again! The girls are doing a great job brushing and we had a good report of no cavities, just what mom wanted to hear!

Mary Todd Lincoln

Image
On Friday Marissa's school had Lincoln day. Although it was a little strange to us that they celebrated Lincoln's life on George Washington's birthday. Anyways, the boys were asked to dress up like Abe Lincoln and the girls like Mary Todd Lincoln. Thank you to our good friends who let us borrow the outfit. Since it was a few sizes to big, after about 40 or so safety pins we made it work! Marissa was very excited about dressing up for school.

Sick Day turns into Snow Day

Image
I think that Marissa is feeling better now, but we still decided to keep her home 1 more day to be sure. So since it was so nice out I thought I would let the girls go out and play in the snow for a little bit before it warms up and all the snow melts. So here are a few pictures of the girls trying to build a snowlady! Marissa got a really big ball going, it got so big it was really hard to push..... 1-2-3- PUSH...... And here she is the finished project! She is loooking a little bit more like a snow clown, but that's what happens when you use food coloring. The girls didn't seem to mind they were pretty proud of her. The funny thing is, we have our snowlady on our patio outside by our sliding door in our family room , and the dog keeps seeing her and barking at her, she's such a protective dog, maybe I should get a sign to hang on the fence that says "Beware of Barking Dog"!

Snow Day

Image
This past Friday we had a snow day at our house. The weather was predicting a lot more snow then we actually got, but we did end up with 5 inches which lead to no school. I was so anxious to go out and play in the snow and can you believe it I only had 1 taker who wanted to go out with me can you guess who it was? Was it Makayla....Nope Was it Marissa.....nope Can you tell by this picture....she was sick? Myah wanted to go out and play with mommy....and we had fun! She got to do all the things she wanted without anyone telling her what to do.... Here is our attempt at making a snowman, the snow wasn't so good for packing, but we had fun anyways! So every kid wants to eat some snow, but now that we have a dog, there were some specific directions given as to where you can eat the snow from and stay away from any yellow snow, gross I know! She's always smiling..... Snow angels..... WoW....that was fast, how did you get the driveway shoveled off so fast, oh yes...it was the nice ne...

What to do on a cold day

Image
Well this morning we woke-up to a very cold house...at first we thought maybe the furnace was just having trouble keeping up since it was so cold outside, but we soon discovered sometime during the night the furnace had quit! So by the time me and the girls got up for school it was down to 49 degrees in our house, that is cold!!! We all had some hot cereal for breakfast and bearly wanted to move we were all so cold. Anyways, we had someone come out to service out furnace, we were very glad to hear the door bell ring shortly after 10:30. He quickly discovered what was wrong and by 1:00 my house temp went back up to a nice and cozy 70. We were all very thankful for the heat!! The things you take for granted, never realize what they are until you don't have them!! Anyways, this post is suppose to be about play dough......so after Makayla got home from school today we decided to make some play dough, which is very easy and very fun thing to do with your kids if you haven't done tha...

Random Acts of kindness

Image
At the beginning of the year Jeremy and I sat down and thought through some "new" ways to help the girls accomplish their chores with good attitudes. We have always said that we did not want to pay our kids to do chores. We would instead pay them for "extra" things that we would ask them to do that was not a part of their daily chores. So we came up with this new system and so far it seems to be working out pretty well. Every time we notice one of the girls doing something that wasn't asked of them like picking up a mess that wasn't made by them or having a good attitude when asked to do something, any "acts of kindness" that we notice without them pointing it out , we give them a star. After 3 stars, they get to pick out of a jar. In the jar we put all sorts of "fun" things like: have a friend spend the night play an extra 20 minutes of webkinz get some candy from Walgreen's (their new favorite store) have a friend over for the a...
