American Girl

We finally made it. I think the girls have been wanting one of these dolls for a couple of years now maybe even longer, but we just didn't feel like they were old enough to really take care of one or appreciate one. We told our girls that they needed to save their money to put towards one of these dolls. Just because 3 girls means 3 dolls which equals a lot of money. Plus we were hoping that maybe they would really appreciate their dolls more if they had to use their own money towards one. So they did, they worked really hard to earn some money and save for their American Girl Dolls.

So we planned a special day where all of us girls could go to Chicago and surprise the girls. We had told them that we were going to go this summer in July, so when they finally found out that we were going this week they were so excited. While we were in Chicago on Wednesday I stopped by the store and grabbed a few catalogs. After we told them I think that night and and all the next day the girls, all 4 of them Madi included, looked page by page through that whole catalog.

Myah was the first one to find her baby. She got a bitty baby which she has named Madi after her cousin.

We started reading some of the American Girl books this year so Marissa wasn't really sure which doll she wanted, I think the night before we went to Chicago she finally decided on Julie. Julie is the new '70s girl. She is very cute!

As long as I can remember Makayla has wanted Kit, maybe it is because she kind of looks like Kit. She was so excited to finally get her!

The store was extremely crowded, maybe because it was Spring Break, but after Myah got her doll she really could care less about all the other dolls, she just wanted to play on the escalator with Grandpa.
Here is a picture of the girls with their Grandmas. Unfortunately we are missing one person from this picture....Madi.

Thanks to both of the moms (Grandma's) for going with us and making our day so special!

After all of this planning, can you believe that Madi got sick that morning. We were all so sad that she wasn't going to be able to come with us. In the long run she probably would have been okay since she really never did get sick again, but that morning Steph was still not sure what she had and thought it would be better to just stay home. So since Madi knew which doll she wanted Nana picked Julie up for her and after we got back home me and mom ran over to her house to give her her new doll! She was pretty excited to have her! But we sure did miss having her and Steph with us!

Here is Makayla and Kit with their matching shirts.....

Oh, that is just too cute! I can't fathom "dolls!" I'm afraid E is going to go around making truck noises and shooting sounds!

Great pics of Chicago and I love the girls with all their dolls. It is so cute even the story that goes along with picking a doll and going to buy that doll and the whole experience in general. I am sure I will take Lilly someday...should probably start saving now huh? :)
