Notice anything new?

Image
Yes....Marissa now has glasses and she looks so cute! She had been saying since the beginning of school that she was having trouble seeing the board. It took a few more times of her telling me that before i finally said okay...we better go and see our FAVORITE eye doctor in town. So after checking her eyes the doctor decided that she needed glasses. Marissa was very excited to hear that. Today was her first day wearing them to school. Her teacher sent home a note saying: Marissa, I really like your new glasses. You look really nice in them, and i especially like the color. You can leave a comment telling Marissa what you think of her new cool glasses.

Nana & Papa come to visit

Image
Here is the cheering squad. We were so glad that Nana & Papa were able to come out to the girls soccer game. It was the perfect day. We had breakfast together and then headed to the soccer fields. After we watched the girls games me and mom headed to the Barn Festival while the guys took the kids to McD's for lunch. It was nice for me and mom to get away by ourselves for just a little bit. Jeremy and Dad enjoyed a couple games of bean bags, by the way Jeremy said he wants a rematch! Marissa and Papa enjoyed a game of Old Maid, I'm not sure who won that game. The girls did not want Nana and Papa to leave! Makayla asked me that night when i was putting her to bed, why can't Nana and Papa be our neighbors, and Marissa wanted to know why everyone lived in Indiana. We sure do enjoy our times together with our families and are very thankful we aren't too much further apart. Here's Makayla with a few of her friends from her team! Go Purple!! There'

Apple Orchard

Image
It has become a family tradition to pick apples in the fall. We started this tradition when Marissa was just a little baby when our friends Chris and Vicki first took us to an apple orchard. After a couple of years of going and picking just enough apples to enjoy eating, we started going to pick apples to make homemade applesauce and apple butter. Yesterday was a beautiful day to go and pick apples. We had decided that was what we were going to do while Jeremy's parents were in to visit. As you can see from the pictures we all had lots of fun. By the way between all of us we picked 4 bushels of apples. In fact I am posting this blog in between batches of applesauce. I can tell you this, my house smells really good right now! I think we will be enjoying our homemade goodies until sometime next year. This was after we were done picking apples, as you can see everyone was enjoying a little snack. There's Jeremy climbing up in the tree to get the best looking apples, of

Saturday on the soccer field

Image
It's that time of year again time for soccer. This year both girls wanted to play. We have practices on Monday and Wednesday nights and all of our games are on Saturday mornings. Marissa has really been enjoying soccer this year. It is neat to see the difference just a couple of years can make. Makayla on the other hand, isn't so fond of soccer, which she will tell you herself that she doesn't like soccer, but she sure does love having a crowd to watch her. She will be out running on the field and waving at us to make sure we are all watching and taking pictures. The girls were pretty excited to have Grammy and Grandpa and Aunt Duffy out this weekend to watch them play! Myah cheering on her big sisters!

My wife is AWESOME!!!

(This is Jeremy). I just had to post this... Tonight during our "God Time" (family devotions), we were limping through our normal efforts to relate God's Word to the minds of children. Actually, they were very responsive tonight... answering questions, giving input... and Marissa even pointed out that "everybody has listened to him [Satan] at least one time." (That is the most accurate restatement of Romans 3 that I have heard to date). I have thought for several nights that it would be great to integrate some sort of time where we sing to God (but I have to admit that I wasn't looking forward to my A Capella versions of their Sunday School songs). Tonight, when I suggested that maybe we sing "Awesome God" (the only song that I knew for sure overlapped between our song repertoire)... we sat in awkward silence while Marissa was beginning to consider singing (mainly due to the awkward moment) when my wonderful wife suggested that maybe singing alo

The Day has finally come....

I can't believe it has finally happened.......NO MORE DIAPERS. For the last 7 years we have been purchasing diapers. I didn't think this day would ever come. There was always another little baby on the way who needed diapers, so we never had a break from buying them. I still remember being so excited to buy diapers for the first time before our oldest daughter was born. Remember how you could afford to stock up on those before the first one came. For the last few weeks, Myah has been wearing big girl undies, even to bed and doing great so we are officially done with the diapers. I actually have 1 pack of diapers left and i can't wait to give them to my friend who has 3 little ones all in diapers right now, yikes that sure is expensive. Well i just felt like this was a milestone worth celebrating! I have to say it is a pretty exciting feeling!

Who's coming to visit?

Image
Well it looks like the tooth fairy will be making a visit to our house tonight. Marissa finally lost one of her front teeth. It has been dangling for about a week now and she wouldn't let anyone pull it for her. By the way, what are you suppose to say when your child asks you.....what does the tooth fairy look like and how does "she" come into our house and why does she collect teeth and how big is she? I was trying to use my imagination to answer her questions. Hopefully i will remember what i said for when the next kid looses a tooth and ask the same questions. This year for Mother's Day, my mom made me an album of all of my baby pictures along with my school pictures. Thanks mom for making the album, it is one of my favorite gifts! I know that my family has enjoyed looking through the book and laughing at some of my dated outfits and hair styles. Marissa hasn't had her school pictures taken yet, which made me wonder what my 2nd grade picture looked lik
