Oh Christmas tree, Oh Christmas tree....
We always start our Christmas decorating early. Since we usually go back to our parents house for Thanksgiving I like to have all of our decorating done before we leave to go home. Even though we had a couple of sick kids, they all seemed to have fun decorating the tree.
Speaking of Christmas, we have started something new this year, thanks to the suggestion from a few good friends. We are reading a story called Jotham's Journey. It is an advent story that we read together as a family. It is broken up for you to read a few pages each night and then finish reading the story on Christmas morning. It has been so fun to read and the girls are anxious to read every night wondering what will happen next. It is another great way for us to help our kids understand that there is more to Christmas than just the lights and cookies and gifts and to help us put our focus on the real meaning of CHRISTmas. "At just the right moment, God sent Jesus quite unexpectedly to save us from our selfishness". Jotham's Journey. That is our prayer that other's will see Christ living in us and that we will see where God is at work and go there.

b) Your girls are getting taller. Wait. I say that EVERY time. But it's true.
c) I'll have to check out that Jotham's Journey book. We have been SO LAX this year in doing anything meaningful. No advent calendar (with chocolates), no advent chains, no book readings. Just survival.
d) Tree looks great. Did I tell you that in the Pacific NW it is like, "against the rules" to have an artificial tree? True! Oregon is practically the birthplace of the Christmas trees, and around here you can get a real one for $5-10. A real one that lasts for a while and doesn't dry out 30 minutes after getting home.
Glad you are ejnoying JJ! We did end up skipping B's Passage, but will go back to it next year. After the 370 Day Bible. (That's about how long it's going to take us to finish up!)
